Neurogastroenterology
It studies the relationship between the brain-gut-microbiota axis, its impact on health, and how to cure or control diseases resulting from its imbalance. An imbalance in this axis can cause gastrointestinal disorders, weight-related problems, mental health issues, and even the progression of pre-existing diseases.
ENDOSCOPY
It's a flexible instrument with an integrated camera and light that allows visualization of the mucosa of the esophagus, stomach, and a portion of the small intestine. Its advantage over other studies is the ability to perform immediate treatments.
Colonoscopy
An examination that allows direct visualization of the entire large intestine and a portion of the small intestine. With this instrument, lesions can be removed immediately, avoiding surgery in some cases.
ESOPHAGEAL MANOMETRY.
It is a test to evaluate the motor function of the upper esophageal sphincter, esophageal body, and lower esophageal sphincter. Its indications include non-cardiac chest pain, difficulty swallowing, before esophageal surgery, etc.
PH MONITORING
Useful for quantifying and characterizing acid reflux and chest pain (non-cardiac), correlating it with symptoms, identifying behavior during the day or night, etc. Key tool for those who have no or partial response to conventional treatment and for those with atypical symptoms such as chest pain, coughing, throat clearing, globus, belching, etc.
ANORECTAL MANOMETRY
Useful test for evaluating rectal and anal function, measuring tone, sensitivity, and coordination. Includes the Balloon Expulsion Test, in order to maintain standards provided by international guidelines and guarantee the quality of the report.
BIOFEEDBACK THERAPY
Technique in which the patient learns to modify behaviors during the defecation process, with the aim of improving this pattern and therefore health. Main indications are certain types of constipation (dyssynergic) and fecal incontinence.
GASTRIC BALLOON
This silicone sphere, designed to withstand the harshness of gastric acid, is placed via endoscopy to achieve weight loss of 25 to 70 pounds. Indicated for obese or overweight patients with comorbidities. We offer only FDA-approved devices and follow-up with a nutritionist for 6 months.
Radiopaque Markers
Radiopaque markers are small pieces of inert material visible on X-rays, used to track intestinal movement. Although the test takes several days to complete, it is simple, painless, cost-effective, and helpful for ruling out slow-transit constipation.
CAPSULE ENDOSCOPY
It's a pill-sized device with an integrated camera, useful for assessing the entire digestive tract (from the mouth to the anus), allowing exploration of areas unreachable by an endoscope. It doesn't require anesthesia. Indications include gastrointestinal bleeding, suspicion of a tumor, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, etc.
SIBO Test
The breath test for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) measures gas production in the breath after ingesting a specific substrate. Although it requires prior preparation, it is simple and painless.
Food Intolerance Test
The food intolerance test evaluates adverse reactions after contact with certain foods or their components. Testing can range from lifestyle changes and food group elimination to more specific tests like blood analysis.
Wireless acid exposure recorder (Bravo capsule)
Used to assess whether the cause of heartburn, chest pain, reflux, throat clearing, burning, laryngitis, or pharyngitis is due to abnormal exposure to acid. It is placed under endoscopic vision and sedation. It records for longer in your body, with no discomfort in the throat because it does not have a probe.
